Abstract

Administrative records, bookkeeping records, newspaper clippings, photographs, and correspondence regarding advisory boards and committees, education, financial transactions, and the permanent diaconate; created for the Diocese of Charleston by administrative offices.

Scope and Contents of the Materials

The Office of the Chancery records includes administrative records, bookkeeping records, newspaper clippings, photographs, and correspondence regarding advisory boards and committees, education, financial transactions, and the permanent diaconate, from 1854-2004.  The advisory boards and committees' material include the ad hoc committee on sexual misconduct, a committee created to develop policies regarding matters of conscience and discipline.  The education series includes histories of schools, together with photographs, programs, newspaper articles, and yearbooks.  The financial records series contains bookkeeping records, including receipts and expenditures, and collections for various accounts, such as Peter's Pence.  Material regarding the Office of the Permanent Diaconate includes correspondence and publications.
