Welcome to Cathedral Parish
We are delighted in your interest to explore our Parish's Website and online faith community. As you browse through
the Site, you will notice that we have services and programs to offer people of every age, interest, and need.
Involvement in your church is a wonderful way to meet interesting people and make new friends.
Cathedral Parish is a wonderfully diverse community of over 794 households. Our members represent several States
and Countries. We are an inclusive church, and very proud of the ethnic and cultural blend that gives us a uniquely
catholic identity.
In addition to ministries, organizations, and events that characterize most active parishes, we are privileged to serve as the "Mother Church" of the Diocese of Charleston. The term Cathedral comes from the Bishop's Chair (the Cathedra) found to the left of the sanctuary.
The Diocese of Charleston encompasses the entire State of South Carolina, where Catholics comprise less than 3% of the total population. This situation places unique responsibilities upon each of us to participate in programs of spirtual renewal, education, and social service in order to grow in our understanding of the faith that we can be good stewards of our Catholic heritage.
We treasure your interest and involvement as a member of our parish family whether as an active member in our Charleston community or as a member of our cyber-parish. We are always open to new ideas which will help us serve each other more effectively. We are grateful that you are considering Cathedral as the community in which you would like to worship and participate. Please introduce yourself to our friendly staff. We would love to hear your feedback and want to help make your time with us as enjoyable and enriching.
Sincerely,
Rev. Msgr. Joseph R. Roth, D.D., P.A.
