LADIES OF CHARITY: Next Sunday is Communion Sunday for the Ladies of Charity. Please, all try to attend Mass & Holy Communion on this Sunday and sit up front. The Ladies of Charity will also entertain the residents of the Carter May Home with a St. Patrick's Day party at 3 PM. Please bring finger food.

MEPKIN ABBEY: Next Sunday, March 18th, The Sacred Heart Holy Name Society will again sponsor their sixth annual day at Mepkin Abbey. This day of retreat is for all the men of the parish, not just Holy Name members. Please make plans to attend and include your school age sons. We need you! We will carpool at 6:00 AM.

PARISH COUNCIL: Parish Council will meet next Sunday at 9:30 AM in the school hall. All members are urged to attend.

FOOD BASKETS: This is a reminder that baskets will be at the doors of the Church next Sunday for your donation of canned goods for the Neighborhood House Soup Kitchen.

PRO-LIFE CORNER: Nothing is easier than self-deceit. Some have convinced themselves that abortion is a woman's "right". That is the ultimate self-deceit. A nation that kills its unborn children cannot teach its citizens to love one another.

SCHOOL MASS: Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Thursday, March 15th, for the students of The Charleston Catholic School. All are welcome to attend.

LARCUM 2001 CONFERENCE: As a part of the South Carolina LARCUM 2001 Conference, sponsored by the South Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the Episcopal Diocese of Upper South Carolina, the Episcopal Diocese of South Carolina, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston and the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church, Cardinal Walter Kasper, a German Catholic theologian and newly elected to the College of Cardinals in February 2001, will be the featured speaker at an open lecture on Friday, March 16th at 7:30 PM at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist parish hall. This lecture is open to the public and there is no registration or fee involved.

LENTEN BIBLE STUDY: Pauline Books & Media is offering a Lenten Study Program on the Letters of St. Paul. The program, Paul, Missionary to the Gentiles, brings together the best of biblical scholarship with the challenge of personal growth in faith. The Bible Study will start on Tuesday, March 6th at the Pauline Book Center on 243 King Street, 7:00 to 9:00 PM each Tuesday of Lent. Cost: workbook - $2, text - Reading the New Testament $14.95. ECUMENICAL WEDNESDAY LENTEN WORSHIP: Services are held each Wednesday at 12:00 Noon at one of the participating churches. Lunch is served at the host church after worship ($3 donation). March 14: St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Meeting Street at Broad; sermon: Rev. Michael R. Bailey, associate pastor First (Scots) Presbyterian Church.

THE WORD AMONG US: Before you leave Mass today, make sure that you take a copy of The Word Among Us home for you and your family. God's grace is on every member of our parish this Lent, and by using The Word Among Us, we are telling God that we want his grace to help us in real and practical ways this Lent. This book contains meditations for each day of the Lenten season.
