Music Ministry Committee - A
"Pipe Dream" Came True
This committee is expecting to complete a project begun in the
seventies. Realizing that the electronic organ being used was
inadequate for a parish of our size, members of the parish and
friends continued over the years to make contributions to the
Organ Fund.
By 1979 the Fund
had accumulated $9,885.43. It took almost 25 years, but by
April 2003 the Fund had grown and sufficient funds enabled the parish
to purchase a used pipe organ. Additional funds, however,
would be needed to pay for reconstruction and installation. With
diocesan approval of a budget, the committee developed a plan that
would reach not only parishioners but business and friends of St.
Joseph.
July 2004 is
the scheduled date for dedication. By this date, the
Committee wants the pipe organ to be debt-free. Considerable
energy is being invested; but other parishes going through this process
attest to its worth. There will be a deep satisfaction in creating a
legacy that will enrich the worship and music life for subsequent
generations.
