In October 1999, Providence Hospital Northeast offered their chapel for masses. Transfiguration used the chapel through June 2001, when it became too small. St. Mark's Lutheran Church was used then for several months.
In August 1999, Rev. R. Inniah Reddy from the Diocese of Warrangal, India was invited to come to Blythewood to serve the people. He agreed and was appointed parish priest in August 1999 through July of 2001. Transfiguration was made a mission of St. John Neumann Parish.
A tract of 103 acres of land was purchased by the Diocese of Charleston on November 15, 1999. In August 2000, the parish purchased a portion of the land (17 acres) from the diocese for the church.
